Why Lived Experience Matters
We believe that lived experience is not just valid, it's vital. Our stories illuminate the silent needs behind behaviours, the resilience behind diagnoses, and the dignity that every person deserves. By sharing our journeys, we help bridge the gap between services and the people they aim to support. We educate not from theory alone, but from the reality of what it means to survive, adapt, and grow.
Our team includes speakers who have faced systemic marginalisation, institutional harm, and personal battles with mental health. Their voices carry the power to shift perspectives, inspire hope, and build kinder systems. We don’t just speak, we build. We build safer spaces, stronger communities, and a culture where healing is possible.

● Social workers and safeguarding teams offering insight into hidden needs and lived experience navigation
● Teachers, school counsellors, and education support staff supporting young people with trauma-aware tools
● Youth workers and community facilitators empowering relational and reflective practices
● NHS and healthcare professionals deepening empathy and reducing stigma across services
● Foster carers, kinship carers, and family support staff helping understand trauma responses and nurture healing relationships
● Policy makers and service designers grounding innovation in authentic experience
● People navigating complex life experiences including neurodivergence, addiction, institutional trauma, and care journeys
● Advocates, activists, and allies expanding emotional vocabulary and increasing impact
● Corporate wellbeing teams and HR leaders applying inclusive practices in workplace culture
Each workshop is designed to create brave, inclusive spaces where lived wisdom meets practical tools turning insight into action.
General Workshop Overview
At Reflective Gap, our workshops are led by those with real, lived experience of trauma, mental health challenges, and neurodiversity. These are not just training sessions-they are transformational experiences. Through honest storytelling, interactive activities, and practical tools, we help professionals deepen their understanding, shift unconscious biases, and build more human-centred support systems. Each workshop is delivered with compassion, clarity, and courage-empowering participants to truly see the people behind the labels.
Workshops for Healthcare & NHS Professionals
Our trauma-informed healthcare workshops are designed to meet the needs of frontline professionals who work with complex patients every day. Delivered by survivors and advocates with deep personal insight, these sessions explore how trauma shows up in the body, how to support dissociative states, and how to build trust in clinical environments. We equip staff with communication tools, body language awareness, and trauma-sensitive practices that improve care and reduce re-traumatization. These workshops are a call to move from policy to compassion, from protocols to person-first care.
Workshops for Schools, Colleges, and Educators
Children with trauma histories, neurodivergent minds, or invisible struggles often go unseen in classrooms. Our education-focused workshops bring those experiences to light. Through real-life stories, roleplay, and evidence-informed strategies, we help teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff create emotionally safe spaces where all students can thrive. These sessions encourage reflection, bust myths, and offer practical tools for identifying and responding to emotional dysregulation, masking, and unmet needs -before they escalate. We would all be enhanced DBS checked:
Workshops for Police & Emergency Services
Emergency responders are often the first to encounter people in crisis. Our workshops led by survivors of trauma and former officers help police and paramedics understand what dissociation looks like, why some individuals shut down, and how to avoid escalation during questioning. We explore real scenarios where a trauma-informed approach made the difference between connection and collapse. Participants leave with new confidence in how to respond with empathy, prevent miscommunication, and follow up safely, especially when dealing with vulnerable or misunderstood individuals
Workshops for Corporate & Workplace Mental Health
Mental health doesn’t stop at the office door. Our workplace workshops challenge stigma and create room for honest conversations. Delivered by professionals with lived experience of working while struggling, masking, or managing trauma, these sessions highlight the hidden cost of silence. We teach how to foster psychologically safe environments, support neurodivergent team members, and recognize when someone may need more than a wellness check-in. These aren’t box-ticking sessions; they're the beginning of a culture where people are seen, valued, and heard.
