Shaun Flores
I’m Shaun Flores, a TEDx Speaker, Mental Health Advocate, and Lived Experience Consultant who has dedicated my career to reshaping narratives around mental health, neurodiversity, and resilience. My journey from battling severe OCD, ADHD, and addiction to becoming an advocate has shaped my approach to fostering confidence, self-awareness, and career readiness in young people. Here are a few highlights of what drives me:
- Turning Pain into Purpose: In 2022, I experienced a life-altering breakdown triggered by undiagnosed OCD and ADHD. I transformed my struggles into a mission to break stigma and inspire others. As I often say, “OCD was the worst thing to happen to me, but I’ll be the worst thing to happen to OCD.” Today, I use my platform to challenge misconceptions, promote mental health literacy, and equip students with tools for resilience and growth.
- Representation Matters: Recognizing the lack of diversity in mental health advocacy especially within the OCD space I founded a support network for Black individuals with OCD . I’m passionate about making conversations inclusive and culturally relevant, ensuring no one feels invisible or unheard.
- Workshops and Talks: Through organizations like Make Life Kind Charity, I deliver impactful workshops in schools, universities, and workplaces, equipping young people with tools to challenge stereotypes, embrace inclusivity, and pursue their aspirations. My talks focus on breaking down barriers, promoting emotional intelligence, and encouraging open dialogues about neurodiversity and career readiness.
