Seamus Kennedy

I’m a youth mental health and wellbeing practitioner with a background in sport and fitness, currently working at Leyton Sixth Form College. My experience as a fitness consultant taught me the profound connection between physical and mental health, and I now integrate that understanding into my work. I lead physiotherapy sessions for students with cerebral palsy and develop programs like 'Stress Busters' to promote movement as a tool for managing stress. I also run monthly Men’s Mental Health workshops and deliver talks on topics such as mental hygiene, helping young people to navigate emotional wellbeing with practical, accessible strategies.

As part of the Student Wellbeing team, I support students facing mental health challenges, trauma, or difficult personal circumstances. I mentor a tutor group, collaborate with staff on inclusive support plans, and often represent the Sports Department at events. My approach is grounded in lived experience and built on strong relationships, creating spaces where students feel heard, supported, and empowered to take ownership of their wellbeing.
