Samantha Houghton
Mental Health and Trauma
From being a creative short story writer at school and a burning childhood ambition to become an author/journalist, Sam was never far from a book or pen and paper. Teachers encouraged her to follow her desired career in writing, but life happened. Sam’s journey took a challenging path as she came face to face with the trauma that threw her life into turmoil, which impacted her life for many years to come. It left her with mental health labels and zero confidence and after becoming a single mum, she embarked on a series of part-time jobs. Sam only began to truly flourish when she set up her own business, aged forty, when her son was a little older. Through her determination and tenacity, her business thrived for several years until the day arrived when she could no longer ignore her calling. She was going to write a book about her life experiences and the chaos she had emerged from.
Sixteen days later her book was written after an outpouring of words, and then her identity powerfully shifted, and she reconnected to her authentic self. Her purposeful new life emerged, and within a few months her book reaped an Author award, she spoke to audiences to inspire their journeys to transformation, and she was in demand to write for a whole host of clients, creating her new business.
Years later, Sam is a multi-published and bestselling intuitive ghostwriter and inspirational memoir book mentor. She has supported dozens of authors globally to authentically write and publish their transformational stories to impact the world and to provide compassion and motivation to those who need to hear compelling stories.
Passionate about healing from trauma, mental health and wellbeing - Samantha cheerleads other authors and is a huge advocate for the power of writing and speaking about one's story.
